Coronavirus will change not just the way we work but also the way we live. From working at home to social distancing at work or at your commercial space, the world has changed so quickly. Are you ready for the New Normal this year?
10 design trends that we are already observing:
Spaces need to be adaptable and modular. Spaces need to be flexible.
Areas must be multifunctional - from spaces required for remote working, isolation areas, and reconfigurable rooms.
Terraces and rooftops are the new open spaces -these “refuge spaces” will be more in demand.
Functionality in design would need to include considerations of safety and sanitation/ disinfection.
Separation areas between the outside world and the interior space.
Surfaces should be easy to clean and should not be tarnished by disinfectants.
Home interiors should be playful and pleasant as we will be spending more time indoors than outdoors.
Comfort in the home is very important.
Design for more storage especially in the pantry or kitchen areas. This is both for home and commercial settings.
“Multi-Use” areas - home/ office, den/gym, kitchen/communal area will become necessary.
