We’re Loving These Online Home Decor Stores: 5 Local Businesses To Check Out

May 19, 2021

Shopping from the comfort of home has become a safer option during the pandemic. The good news: one now has a bevvy of Filipino-owned online home decor stores to choose from.

And more than ever, shoppers are showing their support for local businesses. The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) even launched a campaign last year encouraging MSMEs support through their initiative, “Buy Local, Go Local.”

If you are planning to spruce up your space anytime soon, check out our recommendations below!

C&C Home

The look: As a decidedly Filipino material, nothing says local more than rattan home decor. C&C Home offers a variety of handcrafted, locally-made decorand furniture pieces. This includes woven racks, planters, ottomans, and rugs.

C&C also offers work-from-home and distance learning essentials like a woven laptop riser and study desks for kids.

Style tips: The use of natural materials is one of 2021’s trends. Rattan is a great way to incorporate texture into the home. If your abode sports a modern home interior design, it can also help soften the look by providing a nice counterpart to materials like marble and glass.

Studio Habil

The look: Studio Habil’s fresh and organic aesthetic works well with the current indoor plant trend. Whether you are a certified plantito or plantita, or thinking about adding plants in the home, you can find nature-inspired decorative pieces such as living wall art, terrariums, and moss walls.

Style tips: Studio Habil’s trio of honeycomb-shaped moss frames doubles as wall art. You can even combine these with other flora-themed art or pieces in the same color palette.

Nature-themed pieces also pair well with neutrals and interiors with a clean, Scandinavian look. Whatever the aesthetic of your home however, plants are a great way to refresh your interiors and it give it a calming look and feel.

Domesticity

Website: Domesticity

The look: Domesticity’s online store offers a variety of items for storage, kitchen, and bed and bath. Established in 2002, Domesticity has also expanded its range to include work-from-home essentials such as office desktop risers that can be used for your monitor or printer, mobile stands, and cable organizers—all done in local materials.

And thanks to a collaboration with Gawad Kalinga, Domesticity is able to provide a source of livelihood tofamilies in Negros Occidental,

Style tips: You can definitely marry form and function when it comes to storing personal items.

Choose storage boxes, organizers, and cabinets that will make your work or study space at home feel less like a traditional office.

If you live in a small space, decorative storage boxesmakes it easy to organize oft-used items. For example, after playtime, manage clutter by having these boxes on hand for your children’s toys.

Pinas Sadya

Website: Pinas Sadya

The look: Pinas Sadya’s wide variety of local items includes statement pieces that will be your home’s next pièce de résistance. Light fixtures like this ceiling lamp fashioned from raffia from Bohol; stone vases by famed Quezon potter, Ugu Bigyan; or this recycled chair by Wilhelmina Garcia of Junknot are eye-catching conversation starters.

Style tips: A statement piece can anchor different areas in your home. Define your dining space with a dropped ceiling lamp or try layering woven rugs in the living room. Even a sculptural lamp like this one can breathe life into any room.

And while most local textures are usually done in warm colors like wheat, beige, and brown, you can add local flavor—and color—to your home with banigitems, which are known for their bright color combinations.

Amber and Anne

The look: Amber and Anne’s colorful, printed table accessories can bring cheer to the dining table. Their vibrant collection includes cutlery, tablecloths, napkins, placemats, and coasters.

Style tips: Don’t be afraid to add color, shape and pattern to the dining table! While setting the scene for dinner (or lunch or breakfast) is typically done on special occasions, quirky pieces like these leaf placemats or these delicately embroidered fabric coasters make mealtimes more festive.

The Cabinet At Canterbury

The look: Finally, incorporating art created by talented Filipino artists into your home, is a timeless way to spruce up your space. Art imbibes your home with character—for art is truly personal—and the addition of cultural products like this strengthens a sense of heritage.

Style tips: Art can definitely work well with interior design! The Cabinet At Canterbury not only offers paintings by emerging and established Filipino talent, but also sculptures and functional art. Apart from creating a classic gallery wall, you can combine tridimensional art with your existing decor to create personalized vignettes that are sure to be great conversation starters!
